Announcements & Connection Opportunities 9/7/24
Dear TBC Family and Friends,
This morning the soccer season began at Truth Soccer League. I am so thankful for all who are involved and trust this will be a great season and some will be saved and grow in Christ.
If you enjoy a mystery, we will learn about one that God kept hidden for "ages and generations" but has now revealed to us. Some loose ends will come together during Sunday morning message on Colossians 1:24-29. I believe you will find this message both enlightening and practical.
There will be no Sunday evening meeting because the group who has done surveys and interviews with our church people will be sharing at 1pm what they have found and give us their summary of their recommendations. Everyone is welcome. We will have a meal in the gym just after church if you can stay. We are so grateful for what God has been doing in our church. Please pray that God will use Vital Church to give some ideas about how to make the next chapter even better.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. VITAL CHURCH VISIT: Vital Church will be presenting the results of our church-wide survey this Sunday, September 8th from approximately 1-3pm. Please be in prayer for this weekend and the spirit in which we are welcoming our Vital Church guests.
Childcare:
Children 3 years and younger will be in the nursery from 1-3pm.
Children 4 -10 years will have supervised care on Sunday from 1-3pm in the gym.
Children and teens 11 years and older can assist in child care as we have need from 1-3pm, but they should speak with Hannah on Sunday during the lunch break.
Lunch:
We will have a pizza fellowship lunch following the morning service, and we are asking everyone to bring at least $1/person AND a large salad or dessert to share per family.
Zoom:
A Zoom link will be provided for those who cannot attend the afternoon in person. Please reply to this email or text Melanie for the Zoom link.
No evening service at 6pm.
Question and Response:
Vital Church will have a phone number available for texting questions during their presentation. They will also have note cards available for questions.
They will do their best to give a response to all questions.
Prayer:
Pray that we have a heart of openness and humility
Pray we receive all information and guidance, hearing our strengths and weaknesses as a church with grace.
Pray individually and take some time specifically as a family to pray about this weekend. We are communicating our dependence on God as we move forward as a church family.
Pray for unity and that we will hear what the Spirit is saying to our church.
Pray that the Vital church staff who are coming will have safe travels and clear communication.
Pray that we will see God working in our church both now and in the future.
2. NEW MEMBERS CLASS: Pastor Rowley is starting a new Adult Bible Fellowship class that meets in the Junior Church classroom at 9:15am on Sunday mornings for anyone interested in learning more about becoming a member and the core doctrines we believe. Even if you're not sure if you want to be a member, this class is for you!
3. VOTING ON NEW MEMBERS: We will be voting on Dom & Cindy Laduca as potential new members next Sunday, September 15th.
4. FREE BOOK! Pastor Rowley is highly recommending that everyone download a free PDF copy of the book Surviving Religion 101, by Michael Kruger, an accessible book that equips families for good conversations about challenges to faith, helping us trade panic and doubt for blessed assurance. Pastor Rowley intends to use parts of this book in some Sunday evening services.
5. NEW AGES FOR JUNIOR CHURCH: Beginning this Sunday, September 1st, Children's Junior Church and evening church will be for kids ages 2-9 years old. Children 10 years old and older should remain in the sanctuary with their parents. Please reach out to Amy Pepe or Hannah Bush if you have any questions.
6. LADIES' TASTE OF FELLOWSHIP: All ladies are invited to attend our next Taste of Fellowship at Artisanal Burger in Manchester, CT at 6pm on Monday, September 9th. Please RSVP to Melanie or reply to this email if you plan to attend. Everyone pays for their own meal. Feel free to bring a friend!
7. WEEKEND TO REMEMBER MARRIAGE GETAWAY: The cost of registration for FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember marriage getaway is currently 1/2 off, now through September 16. The WTR is coming to the Windsor Marriott October 4-6. It will be a great time of reconnecting with your spouse and strengthening your marriage. Register now and invest in your marriage! 8. GREETERS NEEDED: We are looking for people who feel God would have them help in the greeter ministry at TBC. Qualifications involve regular church attendance at TBC, an ability to show up at your scheduled time, a warm smile, and most importantly a heart of hospitality. If you would like to know more about this ministry, please see one of the greeters on Sunday morning, Crystal van Achterberg, or reply to this email.
9. WOMEN'S MINISTRY RETREAT: All ladies are invited to attend our first women's ministry retreat at TBC on Saturday, September 28th, from 9:30am - 3:30pm. Heather Spada, a local Biblical Counselor, will be speaking to us on the topic of being transformed by understanding our identity in Christ (from Romans 12:1-2 and other Scriptures). All ladies and girls ages 12 and up are invited to attend. We will be having a catered lunch, a time of worship, some interactive and fun activities, and a panel discussion as well! Come and enjoy this retreat as we start this new season of women's ministry at TBC! The cost is $20, but if that's a hardship in any way, please let Melanie know, and we will have a scholarship available for you. You can invite a friend as well! 10. WEDDING INVITATION: Everyone at TBC is invited to Hannah Bush and Ryan Kruse’s wedding at noon on November 9th at TBC followed by a lunch reception in the gymnasium. Please let Hannah know if you plan to attend the wedding and/or the reception by September 15th. Children are welcome. In lieu of gifts, Hannah and Ryan would love any sort of note you’d like to send for them to read on their drive to PA.

Sometimes our joy as Christians seems to fade with all of the pressures and cares of this life. Join the ladies as Diane LaCasse leads them through a study of Paul’s letter to the Philippians that reminds them, and us, that our true joy is found in Jesus Christ! They meet in a classroom in the gymnasium. All ladies are welcome.
Sunday, 9:15am – Art of Marriage
Eli & Madeline are heading up the Art of Marriage series designed to inspire and equip today’s couples: whether newly married, seasoned, empty nesters, or part of a blended family. The series presents six aspects of God’s powerful and perfect love, and how it can be be understood and applied to our lives and our marriages, in light of who we are in Christ. This class meets upstairs in the gym, and anyone is invited!
Sunday, 9:15am - The Book of 1st Peter (In Person & Zoom)
This class is studying the book of 1st Peter. We are seeing that Almighty God has called us out of an idolatrous, demonic world to be His ETERNAL ambassadors of light for Him in time. We are also seeing our ETERNAL position in Christ, contrary to that of a subjective, demonic position of darkness. We will pray from 9:15-9:30 and have some brief fellowship before diving into the Bible and discussions right around 9:30am. Anyone is welcome to join in the Young Adult room in the gym.
Sunday, 9:15am - Membership Class (Zoom By Request)
Pastor Rowley is teaching a rotating class focusing on what we believe and why we believe it. This class has time for Q&A each week and meets in the gym. Anyone is invited to join at any time.
Sunday, 10:30am - SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE
The livestream can be accessed on Facebook and YouTube and our website 10-15 minutes before the start of the service.
Sunday, 10:50am - Junior Church
Junior Church is for children ages 2-11 and begins after the morning worship time in the auditorium.

This life group is studying "The Power of Giving Thanks." Anyone is invited to join at church.

This life group is studying the life of Christ through the Gospels. Anyone is invited to join in person at church.
