Our History

TIMELINE OF TRUTH BAPTIST CHURCH

  • 1979 - The Lord began to make it clear that He was leading Bim Rowley and his wife Deanna to start a church in the East Hartford / South Windsor area of Connecticut.

  • Spring 1980 - After Pastor Rowley’s graduation from seminary at Tennessee Temple, he and Deanna moved to Connecticut with their two-year-old daughter Melanie and newborn son Josh.

  • June 29th, 1980 - After knocking on over 10,000 doors, the church was launched on June 29, 1980, with an attendance of six people and one dog besides four Rowleys. The service was held at Sly School in East Hartford, where the church continued to meet for some time.

  • June 1987 - Groundbreaking service to begin construction on a church building at 60 Burnham Street in South Windsor.

  • December 31st, 1989 - On the last Sunday in 1989, Truth Baptist Church held our first service in the newly completed building!

  • Fall 2001 - Occupancy permit received to begin using our large addition to the original building, providing us with a gym and many new classrooms! The Lord graciously supplied all our needs enabling the church to build each of our facilities debt free.

  • Fall 2004 - We started Truth Sports Leagues as an outreach to our community with soccer in the fall and basketball in the gym for youth ages 7-12.

  • Fall 2016 - Renovations made to expand our church lobby!

  • Spring 2017 - Keith Tower and Eli Rodriguez join our pastoral staff. 

  • Spring 2018 - Began the new addition for our auditorium.

  • Winter 2018 - Purchased more land next door that became available, debt free, and cleared much of it for more parking space.

  • Summer 2020 - Completed the new addition for our auditorium debt free!

  • Fall 2021 - Pastor John joined our pastoral staff as lead pastor.

  • Spring 2023 - Hannah Bush joined our staff as Assistant Children’s Ministry Director.

All praise for these accomplishments must flow to Jesus Christ who alone is preeminent! The goal of Truth Baptist Church is embodied in our motto: Preaching the Truth with Love.

Where God’s word is honored and accurately taught, we have found that God works in the lives of people.
