Announcements & Connection Opportunities 9/21/24
Dear TBC Family and Friends,
The Lord has given great weather for the beginning of soccer and a good number of kids and coaches. This is definitely a great ministry. I appreciate everyone who has a part.
Sunday morning we see Paul beginning to expose wrong thinking about life and God in Colossians 2:6-10. I believe you will be challenged to avoid errors the world, the flesh and the devil throw at us everyday. The solution is truly learning to know Jesus Christ and letting Him live through us.
Sunday evening we have a missionary Don Stertz who founded "Couriers for Christ" ministries. Originally his purpose was to get Bibles and Christian materials to Communist countries behind the Iron Curtain. He took many risks and made sacrifices to get the gospel to people who would never hear. He is still getting Bibles and Christian materials to those who may never hear without such a ministry. Please come and be challenged to pray and give to others.
Keep praying, witnessing, serving. God is real and God is good. It is worth the effort!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. WELCOME NEW MEMBERS: We welcome Dom & Cindy Laduca as TBC's newest members!
2. HARVEST BANQUET HELP: If you would like to be a part of our annual outreach dinner, the Harvest Banquet, please meet up front in the auditorium with Dave Pepe after the morning service this Sunday, September 22nd. We can use help from teens on up! We need servers, baristas, line runners, cooks, set up, take down, decorations, program, and more! We have a place for you to serve! The Harvest Banquet is on Saturday, November 16th at 5:30pm.
3. CHURCH FAMILY UPDATE: On Sunday evening September 15th, the deacons and staff met to debrief after the Vital Church presentation. We talked through the Tap Root issue and each Branch Root issue in detail and had good agreement and unity in our discussions. We also talked through all the recommendations and assigned deacons and staff to most of the recommendations for further reflection and consideration. We are reviewing some of the resources that Vital Church recommended and will be meeting again on October 6th to discuss further. We have also scheduled a Family Meeting for Sunday evening, November 3rd, where we will discuss next steps together as a church. Thank you for your continued prayers. We are all encouraged and believe God has an exciting plan for TBC.
4. WOMEN'S MINISTRY RETREAT: All ladies are invited to attend our first women's ministry retreat at TBC on Saturday, September 28th, from 9:30am - 3:30pm. Heather Spada, a local Biblical Counselor, will be speaking to us on the topic of being transformed by understanding our identity in Christ (from Romans 12:1-2 and other Scriptures). All ladies and girls ages 12 and up are invited to attend. We will be having a catered lunch, a time of worship, some interactive and fun activities, and a panel discussion as well! Come and enjoy this retreat as we start this new season of women's ministry at TBC! The cost is $20, but if that's a hardship in any way, please let Melanie know, and we will have a scholarship available for you. You can invite a friend as well! Please register at this link or let Melanie know you are planning to attend.
5. MEN'S & WOMENS' MINISTRY & FELLOWSHIP: The men and the women (including teens age 12 and up) will meet separately for a time of encouragement and community on Sunday evening, September 29th, at 6pm. We will have a fellowship meal following the meetings around 7:15pm. We are asking each family to bring a large main dish, salad, or side that fits this description... "Your favorite school lunch (think elementary, middle, high school, homeschool, or college)." That's just to keep things fun, but really, we need you to bring enough food to feed your family and several others. :)
6. MISSIONARY VISIT: This Sunday evening we will have Don Stertz, one of our missionaries with Couriers for Christ in the Soviet Union, presenting an update on their ministry.
7. TEEN PARENT MEETING: Parents of TBC teens should please try to join Pastor Eli and Madeline for a Teen Parents' Meeting, Sunday, October 13th right after the morning service in the fellowship hall downstairs. This will be a time of food and fellowship (pizza and salad), discussion on ideas for upcoming activities, and a time for questions and prayer. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP by emailing or texting Eli or Madeline ASAP to ensure they have enough food.
8. PARKING REQUEST: If you are able and willing, we could use a few volunteers to park in the grass on Sunday mornings to make a little more room for late comers and visitors. Please see Chuck Jutras or Rudy Nelson if you have any questions.
9. FREE BOOK! Pastor Rowley is highly recommending that everyone download a free PDF copy of the book Surviving Religion 101, by Michael Kruger, an accessible book that equips families for good conversations about challenges to faith, helping us trade panic and doubt for blessed assurance. Pastor Rowley intends to use parts of this book in some Sunday evening services.
