Announcements & Connection Opportunities 10/26/24
Dear TBC Family and Friends,
We have so much for which to be thankful. However it does not take much for us to realize how weak and vulnerable we are to discouragement. Tomorrow we will look at one verse in Colossians that has to do with Satan and demonic forces. It is true that Christ has defeated them in the cross. But it is also true that Satan is the master deceiver and liar. God has give us truth that will help us stay strong and pure and victorious in the fight. Please pray that God will help us all to "resist the devil" so he will flee from us.
Sunday evening we have our Men's and Women's ministries. This is a great opportunity to connect with others and be encouraged. Plus we have a church fellowship dinner afterward. Don't miss!
I love you all,
PR
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. NEW CHURCH-WIDE STUDY: Everyone is invited to join a small group to work through the book Resolving Everyday Conflict beginning this week! Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers." But how can we restore harmony to our relationships? Ken Sande and Kevin Johnson explore the nature of conflict and offer biblical steps to heal disputes. Discover how to see the situation clearly, overcome evil with good, be reconciled to your "enemy," and more. We have 6 weeknight life group options and 1 Sunday morning ABF option to choose from. If you would like help choosing a group to join, please reply to this email or talk with Kevin Tower. Childcare is available during the Sunday morning ABF time slot. The morning ABF will be meeting upstairs in the gymnasium at 9:15am beginning this Sunday.
2. MEN'S & WOMENS' MINISTRY & FELLOWSHIP: The men and the women (including teens age 12 and up) will meet separately for a time of encouragement and community this Sunday evening, October 27th, at 6pm. We will have a fellowship meal following the meetings around 7:15pm. We are asking each family to bring a large soup, salad, or dessert to share. We need you to bring enough food to feed your family and several others. Childcare is provided for kids ages 0-11.
3. FAMILY MEETING: We will be having a Family Meeting for Sunday evening, November 3rd, at 6pm where we will discuss next steps together as a church. Thank you for your continued prayers. We are all encouraged and believe God has an exciting plan for TBC. We will have a cake fellowship after the Family Meeting to be able to say goodbye to Hannah Bush since she will be moving away on November 9th.
4. NEW POTENTIAL MEMBERS & DEACONS: TBC members will be voting on Rob and Amy Hanover for church membership next Sunday, November 3rd. We will also be voting by choosing 2 deacons and 1 alternate deacon on November 3rd. The men on the ballot are Vic Borovkoff, Steve Greenwood, and Jay van Achterberg. Every member will vote for 2 of these men, and the third man will become the alternate deacon.
5. HARVEST BANQUET TICKETS: It's time to get your Harvest Banquet Tickets for Saturday, November 16th at 5:30pm! Please use this link to purchase as many tickets as you will need. Or, if you would like to pay cash for your ticket, please see Stacey Lavers. No childcare will be provided, and the age recommendation for the banquet is generally adults only.
6. CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: Beginning this Sunday, October 27th, all Jr. Church kids (2-9 years) will begin rehearsing for the Christmas program. All kids should meet in the Jr. Church room when dismissed from the sanctuary. All teachers will be in the main JC classroom for the 20 min rehearsal and will bring the children to their designated classroom after. Parents should pick their children up in their normal assigned classroom. Please mark your calendars for the Children’s Christmas Program, Sunday evening December 15th at 6pm.
7. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: We have 4 ways to get involved with OCC this year. 1. Drop off supplies to fill boxes in the church office (look here for great gift ideas) anytime between now and Sunday, November 17th. 2. Sponsor shipping charges for as many boxes as you can. We need 75 sponsorships. Use this link or the link below to purchase sponsorships. 3. Come to a drop-in packing party in the auditorium from 7-8:30pm on Wednesday, November 20th. Help us build boxes. Kids are welcome to come help! 4. Grab a box (or two or more) from the church lobby once they are available and pack it at home. Bring it back already packed anytime before Wednesday, November 20th.
8. HOUSEKEEPING: We are asking parents to remind children to take care of the church building and clean up after themselves especially when food items are consumed. We would also appreciate any help in keeping the donation food table area clean and neat. Snacks can be taken home, but please remind kids not to open snacks at the food table and leave them out but rather keep a great spirit of hospitality and welcoming throughout our building by cleaning up after themselves. We love kids at TBC, and we want to keep a homey feel, but we would appreciate parents to help with these conversations both at home and at church. Thank you!
