Announcements & Connection Opportunities 10/12/24

Dear TBC Family and Friends,

Tomorrow we will pick up back in Jesus Sermon on the Mount/Matthew 6 where we left off this past summer. Jesus challenged the people of His day, and by extension us, to trust the provision of the Father and be wholly committed to Him in the all the material things we need to live. I trust we will all be encouraged to recognize our loving Father as our provider and to look to be generous as He has thus called us to be.

In the evening, Pastor Eli will be bringing a message, so please plan to come back if you are able.

May we live for him,
Keith

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.  TEEN PARENT MEETING:  Parents of TBC teens should please try to join Pastor Eli and Madeline for a Teen Parents' Meeting this Sunday, October 13th, right after the morning service in the fellowship hall downstairs. This will be a time of food and fellowship (pizza and salad), discussion on ideas for upcoming activities, and a time for questions and prayer. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP by emailing or texting Eli or Madeline ASAP to ensure they have enough food.

2.  TASTE OF FELLOWSHIP:  All ladies are invited to meet up for our monthly Taste of Fellowship at Frontera Grill in Manchester, CT at 6pm on Tuesday, October 15th.  All ladies pay for their own meal, but we enjoy a special time of community together.  Feel free to bring a friend!

3.  BRIDAL SHOWER FOR HANNAH BUSH:  All ladies and teen girls are invited to attend a bridal shower luncheon for Hannah Bush on Saturday, October 26th at 11:30am in the Fellowship Hall at TBC.  You can bring a soup, salad, sandwiches, fruit, or dessert for the luncheon to share.  If you would like to bring a gift, please know that Hannah is not able to carry gifts when she moves to her furnished apartment in Pittsburgh, so gift cards and/or a note of encouragement or advice is an option.  Either way, this is just a time to spend some fun time together before Hannah moves away in early November.

4.  HARVEST BANQUET TICKETS:  It's time to get your Harvest Banquet Tickets for Saturday, November 16th at 5:30pm!  Please use this link to purchase as many tickets as you will need.  No childcare will be provided, and the age recommendation for the banquet is generally around 12 years old and up.

5.  OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:  We have 4 ways to get involved with OCC this year. 1.  Drop off supplies to fill boxes in the church office (look here for great gift ideas) anytime between now and Sunday, November 17th.  2.  Sponsor shipping charges for as many boxes as you can. We need 75 sponsorships. Use this link or the link below to purchase sponsorships.  3.  Come to a drop-in packing party in the auditorium from 7-8:30pm on Wednesday, November 20th. Help us build boxes. Kids are welcome to come help!  4.  Grab a box (or two or more) from the church lobby once they are available and pack it at home. Bring it back already packed anytime before Wednesday, November 20th.

6.  CHURCH FAMILY UPDATE:  On Sunday evening September 15th, the deacons and staff met to debrief after the Vital Church presentation. We talked through the Tap Root issue and each Branch Root issue in detail and had good agreement and unity in our discussions. We also talked through all the recommendations and assigned deacons and staff to most of the recommendations for further reflection and consideration. We are reviewing some of the resources that Vital Church recommended and will be meeting again on October 20th to discuss further. We have also scheduled a Family Meeting for Sunday evening, November 3rd, where we will discuss next steps together as a church. Thank you for your continued prayers. We are all encouraged and believe God has an exciting plan for TBC.
